Coomera Waters was created to achieve the best possible balance between preservation and development. Part of this initiative was to be an eco-friendly residential development offering an estate with plenty of open space and of course lush vegetation.

Keeping with the native fauna and flora Austcorp adopted certain key eco-systems to regenerate and protect the future of the environment at Coomera Waters.

Coomera Waters has achieved a 5 category accreditation with the EnviroDevelopment programme. The EnviroDevelopment is a scientifically-based branding system designed to make it easier for purchasers to recognise and, thereby, select environmentally sustainable homes and lifestyles.

In order to keep to the high standards we adhere to at Coomera Waters, Austcorp employed Coomera Waters Management, led by Steve Richardson, and Grounds and Gardens to maintain and preserve each stage as it is developed from the beginning right through to the end product.

Austcorp Queensland Land Manager, Scott Biggs said "We have a great team here that work hard at giving back to the environment what is necessary in achieving an aesthetically sound environment. It's hard not to admire such a great native environment."

The result can be seen in the photograph (above) taken earlier this year in April. "Even in a drought stricken region the right mix can make a huge difference. Steve and his team do a great job at keeping Coomera Waters an ecological and friendly environment for all of its residences… including the native fauna,." Mr Biggs said.

There is a two and a half year gap in between the two photographs taken from a similar location. Mr Biggs applauded the management team in their efforts saying that "the vegetation is growing well, alive and well-maintained and it is clear that the use of native species has been key factor in keeping it lush and green."

The Coomera Waters development is set on 376 hectares of elevated, undulating bushland with greater than 50% retained as natural, set aside as open space or as environmental reserve for conservation of koalas and other wildlife such as the Richmond Butterfly, Spotted Mangrove Mouse and Greater Egret.

"Coomera Waters had set new standards in ecologically sensitive residential development and is at the forefront of a growing trend toward environmentally-friendly living," Mr Biggs said.

Mr Biggs also mentioned that, "Our commitment to true environmentally sustainable development (ESD) has been achieved in spite of droughts and extended dry periods and severe water restrictions (still level 6 here) this area has not had any irrigation and has prospered only with rainfall."

Coomera Waters will no doubt continue to transform into an 5 star eco-friendly estate as new initiatives and development work together to create a desirable living location acting as a native haven for everyone to enjoy.
